About the Artist
Cody Lee (They/Them) is a Pacific Grove-based Illustrator, Painter, and Theatrical Technician born and raised in the Monterey Bay Area. After graduating from UCSC with a double major in Physical Anthropology and Theater Arts they moved to New York City to work in the installation of large-scale international performance art. After a decade spent working as a carpenter, electrician, and painter, Cody never lost their passion for evolutionary biology, ecologies of the deep past, and comparative anatomy. Cody has been truly blessed to be able to return to the scientific field as an artist and translate the skills they gained in theater to illustration work.
Driven by passion
Cody’s journey has been anything but direct. Although they have been from coast to coast and career to career, science illustration seems to be their niche in this world and they are excited to expand to fill the new space. Learning new things is one of their life’s greatest joys and in this new chapter, Cody hopes to bring their Jack-of-all-trades energy into a field that aligns more closely to their passions for science and education.
